On your first day your driver will pick you up from your accommodation at 7:00am. Crossing the High Atlas, through the Tizi N’Tichka pass you will head towards the villages of Ait Benhaddou. You will have an opportunity to marvel at the splendour of their historical castle built on a hill 1160m high, overlooking the city of Ouarzazate. Moving on you will pass through some of the most beautiful valleys of the country as well as quaint villages where you can admire their crafts and workshops, maybe even make some purchases to support the local communities. Zagora will be the last stop for the day – an oasis which was once a caravan centre which served the Saharan convoys. From here you will take a camel ride to arrive at your accommodation for the night – a traditional bivouac camp where you can admire the panoramic sunset and enjoy dinner under the stars.

Arising early to witness a magnificent sunrise, you will enjoy a traditional breakfast and then leave in your private van for the famous Erg Chebbi Dunes of Merzouga. You will continue up the valley of the Draa, travelling through the berber villages of Tararine, Beni Zoli, Ait Atta and Anif, where you will break for lunch. Once refreshed, you will continue on through Rissani, the former capital of the Alawites Sultans. Eventually you will arrive at another bivouac camp at the foot of the dunes of Merzouga. Again enjoy a night of dinner and music around a campfire in the desert.

Today you will rise early again to witness a magical sunrise over the dunes. You will then travel to Erfoud via the Dades and Todra Gorges. Crossing through the Taillait Oasis and on to Erfoud, you will break to explore the surrounds, and then travel on to Tinejdad. At the Todra Gorge you can enjoy a relaxing lunch while you admire the amazing surroundings – make sure to bring your camera. Take a walk along the tracks to admire the gorge in all its glory. After the long break, you will continue on to Tingehir to visit the old Jewish neighborhood and then into the heart of the Dades Valley. You will have time to explore around the valley, appreciating the peace and quite, before retiring to your accommodation nestled within the valley.

The last day of this circuit will take you through the Dades Gorge along the road of a Thousand Kasbah, on which you will enjoy the sights of the many ksours and kasbahs surrounded by the lush green landscape. Soon you will reach Kelaat Gouna, more commonly known as the “City of Roses”, where you can admire the many pink hued shop fronts selling their rose themed fares. After making your final purchases of rose water and lotions, you will travel onto Skoura, bordered by dense palm groves, passing again through Ouarzazate, Ait Benhaddou where you will stop for lunch. You will have a chance to explore the Kasbah if you wish, before being transported to you accommodation in Marrakech.

What People Say

There is something so captivating about the desert, so vast and ever-changing. I really enjoyed having an extra day to spend in the desert, as each time you explore it it looks so different. Moorish Adventures was a great company to deal with, and they were very professional with how they operated. Would go with them again for sure
